LinuxIT Europe and Red Hat on a mission to make Linux even easier
  Mar 13th, 15:17 UTC

LinuxIT Europe today announced a joined UK wide initiative with Linux vendor Red Hat to make a move to Linux easy for SMBs.

Over the past few years, Linux adoption by large global enterprises and government agencies has seen a dramatic growth. Deployment of Linux by small to medium sized businesses has also grown rapidly in the last year, but many companies still cite lack of internal expertise with Linux, as well as concerns about `difficulty of use' as primary reasons that they have not yet deployed Linux.

LinuxIT Europe and Red Hat have joined forces to provide companies with comprehensive solutions to alleviate those concerns and to make the move to Red Hat Enterprise Linux easy. The companies have developed tools and events that will demonstrate that Linux is easy to install, administer and manage, without the need for extensive expertise in the field.

The joined initiative consists of trial subscriptions to Red Hat Enterprise Linux, how-to videos, flash movies that demonstrate how to setup web, file, print servers and others, real life stories from customers who have already made the move and award winning training courses. An additional element of the initiative is a series of free seminars aimed at giving companies the opportunity to see at first hand how easy it is to deploy Linux, learn about the ROI, talk to customers who have made the move and experience applications that run on top of Linux.

Peter Dawes-Huish, CEO of LinuxIT Europe explained the motives for the initiative: "In the enterprise environment, Linux has a rock solid reputation. Some of the largest financial institutions choose to work with Linux because they value its performance, while governments around the world deploy it for reasons of security. We want to ensure that small and medium-sized companies have every advantage that the large enterprises enjoy, namely performance, reliability, affordability and room to grow."

Werner Knoblich, Vice President Europe, Middle East and Africa for Red Hat added: "It's never been easier for companies to move to Linux. Our joined campaign with LinuxIT will provide contents and real answers to address any concerns that are still out there, and disperse some of the common misconceptions about Linux. Partnering with LinuxIT on that initiative enables us to provide expert pre and post sales support to Red Hat customers, and to benefit from the company's competence and skills in the Linux field."
