PlugSys International announces a more generous licensing model for its software. Starting with Max for Linux version 1.1, PlugSys supports unlimited users, sites and connections.

SAN LEANDRO, CA- Responding to feedback from users of Max for Linux, PlugSys International announces a more generous licensing model for its software. The initial releases of Max for Linux SDK included a connection governor and required add-on packs to expand connections. Starting with Max for Linux version 1.1, PlugSys has removed any limitations on the numbers of users and connections.

With this new licensing model, developers using Max for Linux can produce as many applications as their skill and creativity will allow. Independent developers and VAR's may freely distribute their applications to their customers without royalty obligations to PlugSys. Corporate applications may be broadly distributed within their own organizations internationally.

"The Linux development community is seeking openness and transparency," said Marc Schnapp, PlugSys Product Marketing Director. "Our new licensing model will be attractive for developers producing cost-effective vertical applications and practical workgroup solutions. By removing connection limitations, we simplify developer's lives and dramatically reduce their cost of doing business."

PlugSys today lays the cornerstone for cross-platform Xbase application development:

  • New product for 32-bit Microsoft platforms- Effective immediately PlugSys is posting Max DOS32/W 1.0 Preview Edition, its compiler SDK for 32-bit Microsoft Windows operating systems. Max DOS32/W permits developers to distribute unlimited character-based applications using the same source code as written for Max for Linux. A quick recompile of the source code is all developers need do to produce Windows-hosted applications. ·
  • Cross-platform Universal License- To celebrate the release of Max DOS32/W, PlugSys is offering a limited time cross-platform license. Developers can simultaneously license the SDK for Linux and Win32 for $399 (US). This aggressively reduces the cost of cross-platform development by $279. This offer is available for licenses initiated any time until 11:59 pm, December 31, 1999 (Pacific Standard Time).

PlugSys International enjoys a decade of development experience based upon a predecessor product line marketed in Brazil as Joiner. Joiner is still heavily used by DOS and SCO Unix developers in that market. Max is the 32-bit successor with availability for Microsoft's 32-bit Windows operating systems and for major Linux distributions.
