Open-Source Language Translator Opens For Public Testing

The translator, based on sentence/phrase/word substitution,
is said to be more accurate than
Babelfish
A new machine-translator designed for language translation has offically
opened for public testing. GPLTrans
is a translator similiar to
Babelfish. Pre-alpha
testing has
shown that it is the most accurate of the major Web-based
machine translators.
GPLTrans does not compromise speed for accuracy either. According
to tests a three-sentence blurb was converted from English to
Spanish in 0.35-0.60 seconds.
This speed advantage was made possible by the use of
PHP, a server-embedded scripting
language. PHP is a scripting language is embedded into the Web
server. It also uses a database system called
MySQL to store the words and phrases.
GPLTrans also allows users to submit corrections to phrases and
words that should have been translated or were translated incorrectly,
allowing the overall accuracy of the translator itself to increase.
It supports English, Spanish, French and German, with more languages
coming soon.
