IndexOS: Linux and Alternative O.S. Web Portal
  Jun 14th, 18:45 UTC

IndexOS offers continuously updated news, real time discussion, web site links and a search engine. It covers Linux and all alternative operating systems.

Odin Properties, a division of Odin Consulting, Inc. is pleased to announce The Index of Alternative Operating Systems (IndexOS) Version II at http://www.indexos.com/

IndexOS is a directory of continuously updated news, real-time discussions, web site links and a search engine. It features news and resources for almost 100 alternative operating systems and a special section that to keep an eye on the Evil Empire.

IndexOS news and discussion are highly integrated with the web directory. News articles are classified by topic into specific categories within the directory. The articles are then pushed up to more general categories. This allows our users to filter news very specifically. A user interested in web programming under Linux can go to the Linux:Web:Programming category and find news about just that. A user interested in just Linux will see these stories, since they are about Linux, and many more.

IndexOS features the IndexOS News Spider that collects news summaries from online news sites. Each summary includes headlines and excerpts for all the different takes on the same story and links to related articles. The News Spider uses an HTML parser that fixes broken HTML and allows it to see web pages as a human would. You can read about the News Spider on http://www.indexos.com/iaOS/spider.html.

IndexOS was developed and is operated by Joel Peterson, working under the guise of Odin Properties, a division of Odin Consulting, Inc. It features the coolest technology of any web portal, with over 115,000 lines of Java and C++ code running on Linux. Over 40,000 lines of this code are available as an Open Source C++ class library under the LGPL.

Odin Properties develops web portals using Web Pathways technology. Odin Properties is actively seeking business partners, investors and advertisers interested in the Index of Alternative Operating Systems or Web Pathways technology.
