Web applications integrated in the ERP system

In the ERP solutions abas ERP and abas Trade manifold web applications are now available. Through these, the user can access the abas Business Software via the Internet. ERP data, e.g. stock level, availability, sales order status, product data, technical drawings or turnover figures, can always be accessed online. The abas Business Software can be operated via a browser independent of the platform.
Manifold possible uses
The abas Web Applications can be utilized in many different areas, e.g. as Web Shop, order tracking, service processing, external system linking (spare parts catalog), customer or management information system, vendor connection (consignment store). Additional web applications are quickly set up. Whether SCM (supply chain management), data transfer with other systems (web services), product download for traders and vendors, price inquiries via web service, portals or CRM - the user decides on the application.
Support of web services
With the aid of the web services it is possible to transfer data from external systems which support the web service functionality and enter it directly into an abas ERP Web Application for further processing. A possible application would be, for example, the integration of data from an external spare parts catalog into an abas ERP Web Application. This is also possible vice versa. A vendor can, for example, query stock level data via an abas Web Application and import it into his ERP system at the push of a button.
Flexibly expandable
Utilizing easy to use tools new, individually designed components can be integrated. Existing components can be easily customized and expanded. Web applications can develop alongside the ERP solutions, e.g. when the function range increases. Editors are, for example, available for access authorizations, menus, translations, components to name but a few. A further tool makes it possible to generate an abas Web Application from an abas ERP GUI screen description (GUI = Graphical User Interface).
A selection of languages
The abas Web Applications are consistently multilingual. All texts and graphics which are displayed within a browser can be managed in resource files in the abas Web Application. They can also be edited using a translation editor. The user can change his individual language setting in the browser at any time.
Implemented technology
The web application platform uses Open Source technology and is, due to the implementation of Java, operating system and computer architecture independent. Used are Apache Webserver, Tomcat, Eclipse® tool platform.
Security
Settings for access rights or user permissions can be exactly defined. A user is able to take up a variety of roles, as for example, anonymous user, customer, vendor etc. Via these roles access to modules and functions will be authorized. Depending on the role taken up, the structure of the menus, the user guidance and the interface can be differently configured. Each user group will receive exactly the functions which it requires.
The real client in which the data is stored, lies in the Local Area Network (LAN) and synchronizes the shadow client which lies in the DMZ (demilitarized zone = a computer network outside the company network). Through this the ERP real client is protected from internet access. Via the firewall various user defined web applications can be carried out.
Project descriptions from the work place
The partners of the company Economos will be given the option of ordering specific products from specific product groups. Additionally they will receive an invoice and sales order overview. Customized search pages are required for the individual product groups.
In the future Dethleffs will carry out the guarantee processing for motor caravans and caravans using the internet. Customer data is entered and processed using the abas Web Application. A check for due inspections is also possible. A highlight of the abas Web Applications at Dethleffs is the connection to an external spare parts catalog using a web service.
