Introduction to Samba workshop in Everett, Washington
Jul 2nd, 13:24 UTC
Continuing its series of monthly open source lectures, Puget Sound
Technology's next workshop covers beginning Samba administration for
Windows file and printer sharing. Puget Sound Technology will be teaching about the basics of Samba
installation and configuration for providing standard Windows file
and printer services on Tuesday, July 29, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.,
in Everett, Wash.
As a free SMB (Server Message Block) and CIFS (Common Internet File
Sharing) client and server for Unix-type systems, Samba is the
popular software for sharing files and printers with Microsoft Windows.
Combined with a GNU/Linux or BSD operating system, Samba can be
used as a low-cost replacement for file or printer servers.
The three-hour workshop will also cover common Samba configuration
sections and parameters, starting the daemons, listing available
shares, using the Samba command-line client, setting up a printer
service, and common graphical interfaces for Samba.
This Samba seminar is one of a series of on-going training events
covering open source software provided by Puget Sound Technology.
Upcoming lectures will cover web services using LAMP and open source
anti-spam solutions. Seating is limited. For more information or
