  Jun 23rd, 05:16 UTC

For the second year in a row, Linux New Jersey is teaming up with PCEXPO to deliver the Linux Boot Camp at PCEXPO!

The Linux Boot Camp will be held September 15 - 17, 2003 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Linux New Jersey is the company in New Jersey dedicated to Open Source and Free Software solutions for businesses.

Last year, Linux New Jersey delivered all of the lectures and demos; this year, we've invited a few of our friends. At this year's Linux Boot Camp you can hear the following people speak:

  • Sean Dague of the IBM Linux Technology Center will show you how to build a Linux cluster on the spot as well as talk about the "ins, outs, and gotchas" of the Apache web server.
  • Jim Dennis of Starshine Technical Services and Linux Gazette fame will be giving practical security tips and show you why you should be using Python in your daily system administration duties.
  • Faber Fedor of Linux New Jersey will be discussing the state of Linux today.
  • Evan Leibovitch, president of the Linux Professional Institute, will be discussing the differences between various software licenses and which one is best for your software project.
  • Ben Okopnik will show off some programming wizardry with Perl, databases and system programming.
  • Heather Stern also of Starshine Technical Services and Linux Gazette fame will be talking about "X Windows: the Networked GUI" and how it differs from GUIs on legacy OSes. She'll also be discussing the differences between Linux distributions and which one to use when.

There will also be an open "Meet the Gurus" session where you can discuss any of your Linux and Free/Open Source Software related questions on a one-to-one basis.

And if that weren't enough, the Linux Professional Institute will be offering their LPI 101 and 201 certification exams free of charge to all attendees of the Linux Boot Camp ($25 for PCEXPO attendees).
