Koha selected as finalist for the 2003 Trophees du Libre award

Les Trophees du Libre, an international free software competetion, has
selected Koha, an integrated library system, as a finalist in the 2003
Les Trophees du Libre competition.
Seattle, Washington, May 6th 2003
Koha has been selected as a finalist for the Trophees du Libre, a free software prize being awarded in Soissons, France on May 23rd 2003. There were 113 projects which were considered for awards in 6 classifications. Koha is in the 'Applications for Public Agencies' category, where there are 6 finalists.
The Koha developers are currently working on a 2.0 release of their system which provides a number of significant improvements over the current 1.2.3 version. The Koha project welcomes the added visibility that comes with their consideration for this award. "I think this is a recognition of the hard work that's gone into Koha over the last year.", said Pat Eyler, manager of the Koha project, "All of the people who have contributed to Koha deserve to be congratulated."
Paul Poulain, Koha's 2.0 release manager will be representing Koha at the awards ceremony. Many of the other Koha developers around the world will be waiting for the awards announcement with anticipation. Chris Cormack, manager of the 1.2 release series, said, "It's great to see the project continually growing, its quite amazing to me how far its come, I feel almost like a proud parent"
