FRANCE - Metz, 1st October 1999 - Linbox[tm] Inc. delivers the world first 300% compatible Linux Network Computer: the Linbox[tm] NetStation.

The Linbox[tm] NetStation relies on a novel approach to Network Computing based on Linux which provides 300% compatibility, saves cost up to 75% compared to traditional client-server solutions and guarantees plug-and-forget seamless operation. The Linbox[tm] NetStation is compatible with most operating systems including Windows, Linux, MacOS, etc.

The Linbox[tm] NetStation has no hard disk, hence requires no software maintenance or setup at all or complex protections against vibrations in a workshop. It is designed to load its operating system and environement from a standard Unix[tm]-like server such as the Linbox[tm] Net Server.

The Linbox[tm] NetStation is the first Office workstation which can be installed by anyone in less than 5 minutes on a Network managed by Linbox[tm] Net Server. It can be used for productivity (StarOffice), Internet browsing (Netscape Communicator), educational content browsing (Windows or MacOS CD-ROMs with compatibility tools), development (GNU tools, KDevelop) or 3D design (Blender).

The Linbox[tm] NetStation has been designed in Lorraine (France) by Linbox[tm] in collaboration with Locabureau, Free & Alter Soft and the French Speaking Linux Association (AFUL). Because of its low operation cost, its high reliability and its wide compatibility with legacy applications, the Linbox[tm] Net Station is the perfect client solution for small businesses, industrial workshops and schools.
