Dell Announces Factory Installation of
Red Hat Linux 7.1

Dell today announced immediate availability of factory-installed Red Hat Linux 7.1 on its entire line of Dell PowerEdgeTM  servers and select Dell PrecisionTM  workstations.

Based on version 2.4 of the open source-developed kernel, Red Hat Linux 7.1 features improved Symmetric Multiprocessor (SMP) support - optimized for machines with up to eight processors - enabling Linux to scale effectively on enterprise-class architectures. Dell servers and workstations running Red Hat Linux 7.1 scale easily for enterprises needing to support thousands of simultaneous users, with support for up to 64GB of physical RAM.
