Lowell, Massachusetts - June 26, 2001 - Mission Critical Linux, Inc., an industry leading Linux solutions and services company, today announced that their Convolo cluster software, which insures high-availability for business-critical applications while maintaining data integrity, now provides complete failover capability for IBM's DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Edition.
" Today's enterprise Linux customer demands continuous application availability for their mission-critical data-management systems," said Scott Handy, Director, Linux Solutions Marketing, IBM Software Group. "The combination of DB2, the most scalable database running on Linux today, with the Convolo cluster software, meets our customers' requirements and delivers a highly reliable solution with 24 x 7 support."
Compatible with all major Linux distributions including Red Hat and Debian, the benefits of Convolo include industry-leading data integrity guarantees, the ability to run on commodity hardware components, the elimination of all requirements to modify existing applications, and full compatibility with Mission Critical Linux's remote system-monitoring and management technologies - Secure Service Technology and LifeGuard. Convolo comes with a graphical user interface (GUI) for easy management of day-to-day operations, a command line interface (CLI) for the scripting of regular operations, and a comprehensive warranty that includes installation and configuration support.
"DB2 and Convolo are a natural fit, " said Bob Tumanic, CEO of Mission Critical Linux. "The enterprise that chooses DB2 can rely on Convolo's ability to ensure data integrity and application availability. Our service and support organization can further enhance an enterprise's ability to make all
their critical information highly-available."
Mission Critical Linux offers high-availability cluster solutions for the most common environments including Web servers, database servers, mail servers, and Windows file and print (Samba) servers. In addition, Convolo is the only Linux cluster solution that fully supports Network File System (NFS) failover - a critical component in any comprehensive Linux cluster deployment.
Availability
Fully qualified Convolo clusters for DB2 Enterprise Edition (EE) V 7.2 with annual support options are available now. Failover testing for DB2 Enterprise Extended Edition (EEE) V. 7.2 is currently underway. It is scheduled for availability in the third quarter of 2001.
