Bynari Inc. Readying Plug Compatible Groupware Components
May 17, 2001 - Dallas, TX - Today, Bynari Inc. anounced its initiative to assist in extending functionality in the KDE and Gnome teams' groupware products for messaging and collaboration. Bynari's functionality for interoperability between Linux and UNIX desktops and Outlook provides plug compatible support.
"We believe Linux desktop development teams would like to make their way into the corporate community," says Bynari's VP of Technology. "The best way to gain ground on the desktop remains providing the tools on which companies already depend."
Bynari's Insight client allows Linux and UNIX workstations to peer directly in an Exchange enterprize without the need for proxies. Bynari wrote modular componets which provide Outlook interoperabiliy in anticipation of working with OpenOffice and KDE's mail, addressbooks and calendars.
"If the Linux desktop teams will provide for plugin support," says Bynari's Insight team leaders, "we can provide the plugins. That can only help Linux gain market share."
In somewhat related news, Project Tradeclient administrators have also offered to contribute their Open Source client to OpenOffice.org or the KOffice teams with the same plug compatible support for interoperability with Microsoft desktops. "
"We have a completely working and stable client available to the OpenOffice.org.or the KOffice teams. Tradeclient has a moderate to large user base in the corporate environment," says the Tradeclient admins. "We can help speed the time to market (TTM) for either project by allowing them to include tradeclient in their office suites. Once contributed we anticipate a name change and we're okay with that. If we don't hear from either team, we'll continue to maintain and upgrade the client as in the past."
Tradeclient can be found at Sourceforge .
Those interested can contact support@bynari.net or the admins at tradeclient. org from the Sourceforge sight.
