Feb 20th, 00:03 pst VectorLinux 1.8 - New Distribution Release

A very small, easily installable, fully functional Xwindows based version of Linux 2.2.17 capable of running in 16MB of memory and less than 200MB of disk space.

This distribution of VectorLinux should be of interest to many MS Windows users who want to try Linux using a minimal amount of system resources. The results will be a dual-boot environment with the ICEwm windows manager providing a multi-desktop environment, and the revered multi-user, multi-processing, high uptime OS, Linux.

The new VectorLinux 1.8 distribution release provides a streamlined installation and configuration process.

VectorLinux retains its features of a small, high-performance, x86-based Linux distribution. It requires only 170M disk space and 16M RAM, and retains full functionality with a GUI desktop, full development environment, FTP server, sendmail, networking utilities, laptop support, and a full range of desktop and console applications.

The primary developer of VectorLinux is Robert Lange [rslange@home.com] with the assistance of Gene Schiavone [schiavone@acm.org] for quality control, process review, and screen enhancements. Darrell Stavem, Sales, Marketing, Finance [metis1@home.com]
