Preview 2 of Phoenix Object Basic available for download now

Phoenix Object Basic was released 4 weeks ago and has met with overwhelming interest. Phoenix Object Basic is a cross-platform visual RAD tool for business developers. Preview 2 adds the ability to create freestanding executables, makes improvements to the IDE, fixes problems with saving code and includes several bug fixes. ODBC functionality will be part of Preview 3, due out next month.

Phoenix Object Basic
Phoenix Object Basic was released 4 weeks ago and has met with overwhelming interest. The feedback we have received form the community has been very encouraging and people tell us they like Phoenix for the following reasons:
- Very short learning curve; easy to port VB code
- True object-orientation
- Try..Catch & Throw error handling
- Multiplatform
- Component based architecture
Among the most requested features were:
- Ability to create freestanding executable files
- ODBC data source component
- Enhancements for the IDE
- Distributed components
Preview 2 adds the ability to create executables, adds improvements to the IDE, fixes problems with saving code and includes several bug fixes. Preview 3, due out late November, will add a ODBC data source component and further enhancements to the IDE. Distributed components will be addressed in Preview 4.
