EdgeMatrix embarks on bundling agreement with Sun Wah Linux Group to provide mobile commerce based on WAP and Red Flag Linux

Hong Kong (October 18, 2000) - EdgeMatrix, a leading Asian technology company specializing in multichannel enablement, has today announced their partnership with the Sun Wah Linux (SW Linux) to bundle their software packages for the Hong Kong market.

EdgeMatrix will provide their WAPgate software for bundling with Red Flag Linux in Hong Kong. SW Linux is the exclusive distributor of Red Flag Linux in Hong Kong, and has strong ties with the China market.

"Mobile Internet access will become the de-facto daily access method for the majority of the population in the coming years," said Jon Lee, General Manager for EdgeMatrix Hong Kong. "We foresee a significant boom in this segment of the technology landscape, and are today partnering with one of the strongest players in the OS market in this region. We believe our WAPgate world-class multichannel delivery technology will be well positioned alongside Red Flag Linux, and we are honoured to be partners with Sun Wah for this initiative."

WAPgate is EdgeMatrix's multichannel enabling software. Comprising various communications functionality such as a WAP gateway and digital Fax engine, WAPgate allows multiple channels of communication to be consolidated. This simplifies any enterprise that wishes to embark on a mobile Internet deployment project. In addition to WAP, WAPgate allows communication via SMS, STK, Email, and even the proprietary ICQ channel from America Online.

"Sun Wah Linux is very excited to be joining forces with EdgeMatrix to tackle the mobile Internet segment," said Alex Banh, COO of SW Linux. "Being the exclusive distributor of Red Flag Linux, we are extremely bullish on the penetration of this operating system in the Hong Kong and Chinese markets. By providing the WAPgate software from EdgeMatrix in our package, we can accelerate our usage in key emerging segments due to the growing demand for companies to enter into the wireless internet arena."

Red Flag Linux is an open-source operating system based on Linus Torvalds' Linux software. Red Flag is a version of Linux that has been developed entirely in the People's Republic of China, and is the only operating system to be endorsed by the Chinese government.

Both EdgeMatrix and SW Linux expect the bundled package will provide enterprises with a cost-effective and robust wireless internet solution that is highly competitive to alternative configurations in terms of price, feature-set, and suitability for the Asian market.

"Both our products have been designed for Asia," concludes Jon. "You don't see that for any other competing software. WAPgate fully supports Unicode and the Chinese language, and Red Flag Linux was developed specifically for the Chinese market. This is a powerful alliance."
