Courses Offer Classroom Content with Greater Convenience and at Lower Cost

Mountain View, Calif. -- Sept. 12, 2000 -- SGI Education Services (NYSE: SGI) today announced the availability of its new "eLearning for Linux" program, a suite of Linux courses delivered over the Internet. This allows users to study Linux operating system fundamentals in a way that is flexible, self-paced and available on any desktop.

The courses, based on Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exam objectives, include "Introduction to Linux," "Linux System Administration I," "Linux System Administration II" and "Linux Network Administration." These in-depth courses provide at least 25 hours of content per course-the same number of hours available in classroom-style, instructor-led courses--and prepare students to take the certification exams offered by the LPI.

"The courses are self-paced and have generous support, meaning one can read and do the lab work anytime, anywhere. But unlike using a CD-ROM, if you need guidance, SGI provides immediate support," said Roger Connolly, director, SGI Education Services. Linux online courses from SGI are supported through online advisors who respond to student inquiries within one working day. In addition, the online courses have e-mail, chat room and whiteboard capabilities for drawing detailed explanations.

"SGI is committed to supporting the worldwide Linux community in a variety of ways. These online preparation courses fill a void for those who need certification but do not have the time for, or access to, classroom instruction," said Connolly.

Courses are available immediately worldwide. To register or obtain additional information, please go to www.sgi.com/support/custeducation/; or phone Americas: 1-800-361-2621; Europe: 44 1189 257725; Asia Pacific: 1800-818-549.
