CRYPTOCard launches CRYPTOAdmin 5.0 - First Strong User Authentication Technology for protecting Web Sites, Email and Remote Access Security

KANATA, Canada, September 7, 2000 - In response to the skyrocketing number of security breaches, vicious virus attacks and severe financial losses plaguing North America's digital economy, CRYPTOCard Corp., leaders in strong user authentication (SUA) systems, has launched CRYPTOAdmin 5.0.

CRYPTOCard's CRYPTOAdmin 5.0, is the first SUA system that protects Apache, iPlanet and Microsoft IIS Web servers from unauthorized access - right down to the page level.

According to a recent Computer Security Institute survey conducted in conjunction with the FBI, 90 percent of respondents detected computer security breaches within the last twelve months. In addition, the survey found that 59 percent cited their Internet connection as a frequent point of attack. Financial losses because of computer breaches were acknowledged by 75 percent of respondents.

"Damaging security breaches including email viruses, financial fraud and network sabotage, are escalating in today's web-dependent business culture, resulting in losses of billions of dollars because of stolen intellectual property, system downtime and productivity declines," explained Malcolm MacTaggart, President and CEO for CRYPTOCard. "With CRYPTOAdmin 5.0 companies can protect their email systems from attack and secure their web sites from unauthorized access, in addition to providing strong centralized authentication for all network access, regardless of network infrastructure or the location of users."

CRYPTOAdmin 5.0
CRYPTOAdmin 5.0 with WEBGuard, ensures access to protected web pages is only permitted with the correct one-time password generated from a CRYPTOCard hardware or software token. Web severs communicate with CRYPTOAdmin, enabling ASP (Active Server Page) or JSP (Java Server Page) security. WEBGuard offers seamless and transparent integration without the need for browser configuration, plug-ins or additional software.

For companies using Microsoft Exchange 5.5 to provide mail, CRYPTOAdmin 5.0's MAILGuard provides an extra layer of security to protect your private email from being accessed by malicious email attackers. By simply requiring the user to supply the correct one-time password before they can access the Exchange server logon page, the server's security is guaranteed.

CRYPTOAdmin 5.0 provides strong user authentication in the Linux environment. Used in conjunction with freely available facilities such as PAM and Kerberos, CRYPTOAdmin enhances the stability, versatility and networkability of Linux. A new Graphical User Interface (GUI) makes administration an easy and welcome task for Red Hat, SuSE and Caldera network administrators.

CRYPTOAdmin 5.0 server runs on Windows NT, Windows 2000, Linux and Solaris. CRYPTOAdmin is shipped with industry leading products such as Cisco Secure ACS and Red Hat Linux.

Nothing More Cost Effective - Save $180K over 5 Years
CRYPTOCard's SUA system is the most cost effective security application available today. CRYPTOCard's Authentication Server Software license is $7,495 compared with RSA's server license of $57,512 - a savings of $50K. And, unlike RSA, CRYPTOCard's tokens are purchased only once, are not time limited, and have replaceable batteries.

Based on a current comparison using a 1,000 user authentication-server software license, annual support agreements, hard token cost, token replacement costs and token redeployment cost, CRYPTOCard's cost of ownership is significantly less than that of RSA.

Vendor Number of Tokens Average Cost/User/Per Year Cost over 5 years

CRYPTOCard 1,000 $16.50 $82,495

RSA Security 1,000 $52.85 $264,272

Total estimated savings with the CRYPTOCard system are $181,777.

All figures in $US.
Nothing More Secure
CRYPTOCard is in the business of Internet and remote-access security. It's authentication technology is based on open systems and strict compliance with industry standards. The CRYPTOCard system positively authenticates anyone who tries to gain access to a company's secure network by coupling something the user has (a hardware or software token), with something the user knows (a PIN), thereby providing 2-Factor positive authentication and verifying that "Bob-is-Bob". With the CRYPTOCard solution, organizations no longer have to reassign passwords or debate password complexity standards with users - thereby making shared or forgotten passwords a thing of the past.
