DENVER - Jabber.com Inc., a subsidiary of Webb Interactive Services Inc. (NASDAQ: WEBB), today announced the formation of the Jabber.com technical advisory board and the appointment of its first three members, Craig Burton, Rohit Khare and Stephen Williams.
All three individuals represent highly respected technology visionaries and each comes with decades of real-world experience in shaping the network computing industry. Burton, a well-known network services industry analyst, was a founding member of Novell and co-founded the Burton Group. Khare has played a pivotal role in the development of Internet and World Wide Web standards and is the founder and chief executive officer of 4K Associates and KnowNow. Williams has played a key role in the development of the instant messaging industry by designing and implementing AOL's Buddylist server (versions 1.x), used by over 8 Million users and supporting over 300,000 simultaneous connections.
"Building on Jabber's strategic advantages in distributed instant messaging, XML and open source, we're uniquely poised to create a key component of the next wave of Internet infrastructure. The guidance of visionaries who have deep experience in scalable, mission critical networking and messaging
services will accelerate our success in this enormous opportunity," said Andre Durand, general manager of Jabber.com Inc. "This board was formed to provide Jabber.com and the Jabber open source movement with the very best technical guidance, insight and strategic direction. These individuals understand how to build, position and apply technology in ways that can redefine XML-based IM into a very strategic component of Internet
communications."

Burton is a frequent speaker at worldwide industry events such as INTEROP, ETRE, NetWorld, COMDEX, PC Expo and vendor-specific networking events. His market analysis is often published in industry trade publications such as Network Computing, InfoWorld and LANTimes. Over the years, Burton's
contributions to network computing have earned him recognition as one of the industry's most influential executives in Computer Reseller News in November of 1988 and in Simon & Schuster's The Computer Industry Almanac 1992.
Rohit Khare
As founder and chief executive officer of 4K Associates and KnowNow, Khare has been involved in the process of creating Internet standards and standards strategy for many years. Khare joined the Ph.D. program in computer science at the University of California, Irvine in 1997 to develop next-generation protocols for HTTP and proactive Event Notification. Prior to that, he served as a member of the MCI Internet Architecture staff in Boston, Mass., as well as two years on the founding technical staff of the World Wide Web Consortium at MIT, where he focused on security and electronic commerce issues.
He has been involved in the development of cryptographic software tools and Web-related standards development since 1993.
