Company to Demonstrate New TurboCluster Server
Running on High-Performance Alpha Solutions at Linux World
SAN JOSE, Calif. (August 9, 1999) – TurboLinux, the leader in high-performance Linux, announced today the port of its breakthrough Linux clustering software solution, TurboCluster Server, to the Alpha processor, the industry’s fastest 64-bit microprocessor. This broadens the market for Alpha Linux solutions and gives customers a powerful, price-performance alternative.
TurboCluster Server, the industry’s first high-availability clustering solution for Alpha servers, will debut at Linux World Conference and Expo (San Jose, August 10-12) and will be showcased at the TurboLinux, Alpha Processor, Inc, (API) and Atipa Linux Solutions’ booths. The demonstration will showcase a comprehensive High Availability Web server clustering solution.
“The port of TurboCluster to Alpha continues to demonstrate TurboLinux’s commitment to building high-performance clustering solutions around the Linux operating system,” said Cliff Miller, CEO of TurboLinux. “The combination of TurboCluster and Alpha servers gives ISPs and corporate web administrators a powerful platform to meet their demands for availability, scalability and performance.”
Both API and Atipa, dominant players in the Linux market, view the TurboLinux clustering technology as a significant advancement in High Availability Linux Solutions.
"We view this first high availability clustering solution as a real industry milestone, demonstrating great market potential for Alpha Linux," said Jeff Borkowski, vice president of marketing for API. "By porting to Alpha, TurboLinux opens up new opportunities to realize the benefits of Alpha for High Availability clustering solutions."
"This high-performance cluster gives market reliability and peak performance in the explosive e-commerce arena while avoiding the risks and additional costs involved with installing non-scalable technologies,” said Jason Talley, president of Atipa Linux Solutions. “We support this clustering solution with our pre-configured Linux servers, clusters and workstations."
The Alpha version of TurboCluster is slated for shipment in Q4 1999 with pricing not yet released. TurboCluster for Alpha will be available via TurboLinux’s network of distributors, value-added resellers and the company’s Web site at www.turbolinux.com
