Two firms will collaborate to serve growing Linux community

SEATTLE, WA -- Linux Journal and Cosource.com are proud to announce their new effort to provide Linux users with direct access from Linux Journal's web site to Cosource.com's facilities for collaborative funding of software development. Cosource.com is currently conducting a live beta test of their service. As new requests for Linux software are posted, Linux Journal mirrors these titles for the broader Linux community on their main home page at http://www.linuxjournal.com/. This gives Linux users greater access to developers who write Open Source software, while providing a Linux-focused venue for learning about Cosource.com requests.

"Linux Journal is the premier information portal for Linux users, and Cosource.com leverages the power of the cooperative marketplace to drive new software development for the Linux operating system," said Bernie Thompson, founder and CEO of Cosource.com. "Together, we look forward to empowering the growing Linux community with the tools to solve software problems."

"The partnership between Linux Journal and Cosource.com is a natural one," said Phil Hughes, Linux Journal publisher. "Our readers rely on Linux Journal's loyalty to community needs, while they also look to us for help in making Linux work for them. Partnering with Cosource.com is a great way for us to accomplish both goals by keeping folks informed and giving them tools to resolve Linux issues."

As part of their partnering efforts, Linux Journal will host Cosource.com at the upcoming Linux World Conference and Exposition, August 9 through 12 in San Jose, California, and at other upcoming Linux-related industry events.
