KDAB publishes feedback on their Qt trainings, launches the Kolab Systems AG as professional groupware support partner. KDABian Kevin Ottens has been interviewed by Qt Labs.
Kolab Systems Launched
KDAB and its partners have long been providing first-class services around the Kolab Groupware Server and the KDE Kontact client. Expanding on that, KDAB has now entered into a joint venture, Kolab Systems AG which fully focuses on the development, system integration and support of the Kolab Groupware Suite. Professional service, certified packaging, quality assurance, and a strong partnership model characterize the new business built on a proven solution with 5 years of productive use.
"The award-winning design of the Kolab Groupware Solution has proven its value in many deployments with thousands of users who have used it productively throughout the past five years," states Georg Greve, CEO of Kolab Systems. "We feel that nurturing the surrounding business ecosystem is essential if Kolab is to fully realize its technical potential for all its users. Kolab Systems AG is the consequence of this and the answer to feedback that we received from partners, customers and the community alike."
KDAB's new trainings receive positive feedback
KDAB, the Qt Experts have extended their offerings of Qt trainings. Next to the introductory Qt courses KDAB offers around the world, there are now also more specific topics covered. The new Pick & Learn course allows to you assemble specific topics you would like to learn more about. Several Qt Update courses are there for those that would like to refresh their Qt knowledge and get up to speed on the latest technologies introduced in Qt. The new in-depth courses are designed to pass on some of KDAB's expertise in Qt development to others and target intermediate and experienced developers. The new Squish training course helps you understand and get started with Squish, an excellent UI testing tool developed by Froglogic.
We have talked to Paul Burkimsher of CERN, the European Center for Nuclear Research who recently took part in one of our Squish training sessions. After the session, Paul tells us:
You don’t know what you don't know – until you come along to find out! Yes, I learned about facilities in Squish that I was not previously aware of yet which are immediately relevant to my daily work. I also profited from KDAB’s close links with Froglogic and the trainer’s willingness to investigate my own particular problems after the lectures were over.
Paul confirms that KDAB's mix of hands-on learning combined with real-world experience works well to convey knowledge and skills that are directly relevant to the students' day-to-day work. More information about Qt trainings at KDAB is available on kdab.com and in the training schedule.
The Qt Blog Interviews KDABian Kevin Ottens
In an interview, Qt's Alexandra Leisse held with Kevin Ottens, Qt developer and trainer at KDAB, Kevin provides some insight in his work with Qt at the university of Toulouse, and his contributions to KDE. Kevin has been leading a project at the university of Toulouse for the past years, and has collected a good amount of knowledge and experience in bringing Qt development into universities. One of his former students, Alexis Menard even joined Qt Software two years ago to work on QGraphicsView.
