Ermine Packer 2.1.0: GNU/Linux software deployment made easy
Nov 19th, 00:30 UTC
Ermine, the commercial alternative to the popular Statifier package makes it easy to create executables that will run on nearly any GNU/Linux system. This new major release vastly simplifies the packing of multiple binaries into one executable that is independent from the target system's libraries.
A virtual machine architecture sets up an all-inclusive environment
with all libraries and data files an application needs.
This way even running an x86 application on an x86-64 system
is possible without modification or compatibility libraries.
"We offer an easy way to tackle compatibility issues across
GNU/Linux distributions." says the author of Ermine, Valery Reznic.
"Ready to run applications can be created in minutes and run on
practically every modern GNU/Linux system.
Not even the source code of the original executable is required."
Additionally Ermine supports open source and free software with
special licensing programs on request.
