Cluster Resources to Showcase Adaptive Windows/Linux Cluster at BrainShare
  Mar 18th, 00:27 UTC

Cluster Resources, Inc. will present the Moab Hybrid Cluster, an HPC solution that dynamically changes cluster nodes between SUSE Linux and Windows CCS based on workload and application needs, at Novell's BrainShare all this week in booth #623 and in select sessions.

Salt Lake City, Utah - March 17, 2008 -Cluster Resources, Inc. will present the Moab Hybrid Cluster, an HPC solution that dynamically changes cluster nodes between SUSE Linux and Windows CCS based on workload and application needs, at Novell's BrainShare all this week in booth #623 and in select sessions.

Michael Jackson, president of Cluster Resources, will co-present sessions with Novell on "Adaptive High Performance Computing with SUSE Linux and Windows" Tuesday and Friday. These sessions will demonstrate how to maximize mixed SUSE Linux Enterprise and Windows Compute Cluster Server environments by leveraging the Moab Cluster Management toolset from Cluster Resources.

The Moab Hybrid Cluster delivers on a joint effort with Novell and Microsoft to create a unified cluster environment across both companies' operating systems. The hybrid solution overcomes the capacity planning problem of estimating the number of nodes allocated to different OS resource pools. Traditionally, these static resource pools have different peak usage times where one OS remains idle while the other has a backlog of workload. The hybrid model breaks down OS resource silos, letting OS pools grow and shrink to take advantage of otherwise idle compute nodes. It also intelligently overcomes hardware & job failures by re-allocating compute nodes with the proper OS to compensate for the failures.

Presentations by Michael Jackson will be in room 251A at 2:30 PM on Tuesday and room 250F at 9:30 AM on Friday and Cluster Resources' developers will be at booth #623 all week demonstrating and answering questions on how the Moab Hybrid Cluster can simplify and expand Windows and Linux clustering capabilities.

BrainShare 2008 takes place March 16-21 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
