  1. What is Linux PR?

Linux PR is a website for organizations to publish press releases to the enormous market that is the Linux community. Linux PR is backed by the resources of Linux Today and is offered at no charge. Journalists from large media organizations can monitor Linux PR as a source for their Linux-related information.

  2. Why should my organization join Linux PR?

You only need to join Linux PR if you are an organization who wishes to submit a press release into the Linux PR Wire. There is no charge for becoming a member of Linux PR, nor are there any charges associated with submitting press releases. There is no limit on the number of releases that an organization may submit in a given period of time.

  4. How do I submit a press release?

From the top of the page, click on "Login". Enter your user ID and password to access the system. Then click on "Submit new press release" and follow the directions. After you make any changes you want and click "Finished", your press release is reviewed by Linux PR editors for quality assurance. If any problems are found, you are notified via email about the nature of the problem and you can return to Linux PR to edit your press release as you see fit to resolve the problem. Linux PR editors do not make changes in your press release.

  5. Are there any guidelines for press release formatting?

Yes. Please observe the following basic guidelines:

    • Please use HTML formatting.
    • Please do not use special formatting in the headline or lead.
    • Please use 'title' or 'sentence' case for headlines.
    • Please do not include images or links to images in the body of your press release.
    • Please keep all formatting simple and limited to basic tags: <strong>, <i>, and anchor tags. The more complex your formatting, the more likely your press release will be delayed.
  6. How soon after I submit the press release will it become publically available?

Once the release is submitted, it goes into the quality assurance area, where our editors check it for relevance and HTML formatting. Once it passes this area, it is introduced into the Linux PR Wire. Linux PR has editors based around the world, so your press release will be processed in a timely manner - usually within a day, although no guarantees are made.

  7. How long will the press release be available on Linux PR?

The press release will be linked to from the homepage for an indetermined amount of time, and will remain in the Linux PR archives (available for searches) indefinitely, or until the user ID who submitted the release specifically requests that it be removed.
